Open Spina Bifida diagnosed at 12 weeks 6 days

banner-img We present a case of Lumbosacral OPEN SPINA BIFIDA detected during nuchal translucency scan at 12 weeks 6 days. The fetus had a normal nuchal translucency but INTRACRANIAL TRANSLUCENCY was obliterated and the normal typical landmarks of a normal posterior brain were lost. The ratio of BRAIN STEM to BRAIN STEM OCCIPITAL BONE distance was >1.

We present a case of Lumbosacral OPEN SPINA BIFIDA detected during nuchal translucency scan at 12 weeks 6 days.

This case demonstrates the use standard midsagittal plane commonly used for NT measurement to assess the IT and the posterior brain and to determine the presence of OPEN SPINA BIFIDA during NT screening.
